SEGA's collection of Mega Drive & Genesis classics comes to a new generation of consoles - and players. Over 50 titles across all genres from all-time classics like Sonic and Streets of Rage 2 to deep RPGs like the Phantasy Star series; arcade action, shooters, beat's ups, puzzlers, old favourites and hidden gems. New features bring modern convenience to the classics. Save your game at any time, rewind those slip-ups, or customise your controls. Earn bragging rights with online multiplayer and achievements. The largest collection of retro classics on console in one great package! Sega Europe has officially announced the collection as Sega Mega Drive Classics and confirmed that it will be out on May 29 in the UK – but only on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The existing PC collection will be getting a free update on Steam, but there is no Nintendo Switch version. The console versions will also be released at retail and will come with a double-sided Golden Axe and Streets Of Rage poster. SEGA previously released a similar collection for PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2009 called Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (as well as an even earlier PSP/PS2 version in 2006), which contained 48 classics including Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin and most of the Genesis/Mega Drive era Sonic the Hedgehog games. This isn't the first attempt to tickle Sega fans' nostalgia; last September saw the release of the Genesis Flashback, a modern recreation of the Genesis system featuring 85 built-in games and compatibility with most Genesis cartridges.
